A fab lab<\/strong> (fabrication laboratory<\/strong><\/em>) is a small-scale workshop<\/a> offering (personal) digital fabrication<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fab lab is typically equipped with an array of flexible computer-controlled tools that cover several different length scales and various materials, with the aim to make “almost anything”. This includes technology<\/a>-enabled products generally perceived as limited to mass production<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While fab labs have yet to compete with mass production and its associated economies of scale<\/a> in fabricating widely distributed products, they have already shown the potential to empower individuals to create smart devices for themselves. These devices can be tailored to local or personal needs in ways that are not practical or economical using mass production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fab lab movement is closely aligned with the DIY<\/a> movement, open-source hardware<\/a>, maker culture<\/a>, and the free and open-source<\/a> movement, and shares philosophy as well as technology with them.<\/p>\nhttps:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fab_lab<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Die Idee des FabLab wurde im Jahr 2002 am amerikanischen Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/strong> (MIT) entwickelt und erstmals in die Tat umgesetzt. Seitdem haben sich weltweit viele Menschen zusammengefunden und weitere FabLabs gegr\u00fcndet, alle mit dem Ziel, \u201enormalen\u201c Menschen den freien Zugang zu technologischen Herstellungsverfahren bereitzustellen. Unser Fablab befindet sich momentan im Aufbau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
